Police Report - June 2019
The following report has been received from Sgt Lewis-Dalby regarding our Community Council area:
"Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:
There have been no reported vandalisms or assaults during this period. However with warmer evenings people are more likely to walk home to the outlying parts of the city through our area, if you see someone who maybe a little the worse for wear or intent on having an argument with themselves and you have a concern please let us know it may prevent accidental damage, vandalism or worse.
Acquisitive Crime:
There has been a report of a theft of a car from a home which was left unlocked overnight, please remember there are people who come into our area from elsewhere in the city for the specific purpose of preying up us, let’s make their journey a waste of time.
Should you see someone hanging about and think it’s not quite right please call us.
Road Safety & Road Crime:
In response to your requests Officers will be taking a robust approach balancing education with enforcement to ensure the relatively small minority who are responsible for committing offences and antisocial behaviour with vehicles are held accountable for their actions. We will be working with partners and making use of antisocial behaviour legislation. Residents in the areas affected by antisocial driving are encouraged to contact Police on 101 at the time to report incidents in order for us to take positive action.
Community Engagement & Reassurance
This month will see the schools finish and a number of our young people will enjoy that additional bit freedom as they transition between years and in some cases schools.
The majority of our antisocial behaviour calls are about young people who "might be up to something" or "look like they're up to no good" or even "making a racket in a play park". As adults I would hope you would cast your mind back to when you were that age and remember the vast majority of our young people, whilst a bit loud and occasionally boisterous, are doing anything other than being perfectly acceptable young people.
I would ask that we give them all a little consideration remembering two things just because they are in a group and enjoying themselves the likelihood is they are NOT going to engage in criminality,
only a tiny minority of your young people engage in any criminality and we don’t “ship” young people from elsewhere in the city into our area, so if you hear about young people causing a nuisance ask yourself if you are really sure you know where your young people are.
Conversely if when you look at someone or a group and instinctively know they are up to no good let us know, as these are the people we need to know about.

As the weather allows us to enjoy the open recreational spaces Aberdeen has to offer be it the Deeside way, the Hazlehead parks and trails or anyone of the garden parks we have dotted across the city, we would ask you to take a little time and consider those others using them and how they got there, perhaps by car by cycle or even by horse. School's out, the lazy, hazy days of summer are upon us, and all over Scotland, people are unwinding in the sunshine (between intermittent periods of breaking out the anoraks and wellies). Lawnmowers and BBQs are being fired up, youths are enjoying the weeks of freedom between terms, and parents are trying to keep the wee ones entertained.
