Police Report - April 2021

This report is from our Community Policing Team and covers progress made in dealing with the Community Council area priorities during April 2021

COVID 19 – UPDATE
As of Monday 26 April 2021 Aberdeen City is in level 3 of the 5 Covid-19 protection levels laid out by the Scottish Government. It is expected that from Monday 17 May 2021 we will move to level 2, followed by level 1 in early June and level 0 in late June, though this is subject to assessment of the data at the time of review and may change. Officers continue to respond to reports of any breaches in the regulations using the 4E’s principle, namely Engage, Explain Encourage and Enforce as a last resort. Locally Police received a single call where advice was passed. 

Community Policing Priorities
Antisocial behaviour, Violence and Disorder:

As the weather improves and the lockdown restrictions ease we are seeing an increase in people of all ages out enjoying the local area. The vast majority of people continue to act responsibly and in compliance with all the restrictions in place on us all. 

Over the past month we have noted a few instances of anti-social behaviour such as the vandalism to some plant pots at Airyhall Library and damage to a car parked on Airyhall Avenue over the weekend of 2nd to 5th April. On Monday 19th April, (early evening) some youths gathered in the grounds of the derelict building at Airyhall House to set a small camp fire. No youths have been traced in relation to same.

Officers continue to proactively patrol area’s known for anti-social behaviour across the area including above and will look to engage with those present in a positive manner, dealing proportionately with any offences where evidence is sufficient. I wish to encourage all parents/guardians to engage with their children, to know where they are and what they are up to as we move into summer period.

Acquisitive Crime:

There have been no incidents of Acquisitive crime reported to Police for the area over the month of April.

That said I do encourage members of the public to remain vigilant and where they see something suspicious, that you are not happy with, please consider reporting this, passing as much detail/description as possible of any persons and vehicles, particularly registration marks. Please be mindful of the advice on the Community Reassurance page around ‘Shut out Scammers’ campaign launched this month. 

Road Safety & Road Crime:

There were no specific incidents of note in relation to Road Safety and Road Crime.

We continue to work with partners in response to specific complaints in terms of road traffic offences. Residents in the areas affected by antisocial driving are encouraged to contact Police on 101 at the time, to report incidents and provide as much description as possible of the vehicle(s)/person(s) in order for us to take positive action.
